Dick
Arra is Vice President and Director
of Navigation and Military Space at
ITT’s Space Systems Division
(SSD). SSD develops complex space borne
payloads that provide the GPS signals
to earth for use by the ever present
GPS receivers. Prior to joining SSD,
Mr. Arra was sequestered by their CEO
to establish ITT’s critical ‘Value
Based Product Development’ initiative – a
disciplined management process to drive
profitable growth through new products
modeled after Cooper’s Stage-Gate
system. During this five year project,
Dick led the successful implementation
of VBPD across their complex, global
organization spanning 4 very diverse
divisions, 50+ value centers and across
90+ countries. Dick was instrumental
in designing the world-class innovation
program as well as steering its organization-wide
implementation. Dick obtained his Master’s
of Business Administration degree (Finance)
at Fairleigh Dickinson University,
his Masters of Engineering (Electrical)
at NYU and Bachelor’s of Engineering

Georgette
Belair led the Deployment and Integration
of Design-for-Six-Sigma for Ethicon
Endo-Surgery (EES) in Cincinnati,
OH. In her role, Georgette and her
team were responsible for deploying
the Design Excellence Process to
the New Product Development organization
at EES. This included integrating
the best practices and methods of
DFSS into EES processes, providing
training to the teams, sponsors,
and champions; and mentoring individual
team members, Green Belt or Black
Belt candidates. Georgette and her
team were responsible for deploying
and integrating a robust VOC Process
into New Product Development, resulting
in higher customer satisfaction,
better products to the customers,
and less time re-concepting. Prior
to her role at Ethicon Endo-Surgery,
Georgette held significant Six Sigma
roles for non-medical industries,
including GE Lighting. Her roles
included leading the charge to deploy
Six Sigma, Stage Gate, and Team-based
problem solving. Georgette has earned
Black Belt and Master Black Belt
Certification both outside Johnson & Johnson
and within Johnson & Johnson.
Georgette holds a Bachelor’s Degree
in Mechanical Engineering and Masters
of Business.

Stephen
Bull was appointed Vice President,
Research and Development of EXFO
in December 1999. He is responsible
for EXFO’s Telecom Division’s product
development initiatives as well as
for Life Sciences and Photonics product
development efforts and manages two
departments that include highly specialized
engineers and technicians working
to advance research on future technologies
within the industry.
Mr.
Bull joined EXFO in 1995. He held
the position of Group Leader, Engineering
Management, from July 1995 to September
1997 and Assistant Director of Engineering
from September 1997 to December 1999.
Prior
to joining EXFO, Stephen Bull was
General Manager and Managing Director
of Space Research Corporation, a
military engineering company in Belgium,
from June 1990 to March 1995.
Stephen
Bull holds a bachelor's degree in
Electrical Engineering from Laval
University in Quebec City. He is
currently on the board of the Concurrent
Engineering Institute of Quebec.
Stephen is also a Certified New Product
Development Professional and a member
of the Product Development Management
Association. He speaks regularly
at conferences on product development.

Charles Gagnon

Charles
Gagnon is the Director of Technology
Business Development at Hydro-Quebec
since October 2000. Prior to this,
Mr. Gagnon was head of research for
Transmission and Distribution technologies
at Hydro-Quebec’s Research Institute
(IREQ).
Mr.
Gagnon started his career as a researcher
in power system simulation software
in 1985 at IREQ. In 1196, Mr. Gagnon
became President and CEO of TEQSIM
International (a subsidiary of Hydro-Quebec),
a start-up he co-launched for the
purpose of developing and commercialising
real-time power system simulators
on the international market.
His
academic background is in electrical
engineering and computer science
(Sherbrooke University, Canada) as
well as management and business administration
(McGill University, Canada).

Dr.
John Irven is Director of Technology
for Air Products, Packaged Gases
Group, where he is responsible for
the global R&D and innovation
of new products, processes and applications
in industrial gases technology. A
particular area of focus is on gases
for welding and fabrication processes,
as well as applications across Electronics,
Specialty and Helium gases businesses.
Before
joining Air Products, John read Natural
Sciences at St. John’s College Cambridge,
worked for the Plessey Company on
Electronic materials and semiconductor
processing, and Standard Telecommunication
Laboratories on optical fibre technology,
in which his PhD is based.
He
is a chartered scientist, chartered
chemist, and Fellow of the Royal
Society of Chemistry, and is visiting
Professor in Chemistry at Queen Mary
University of London. He chairs the
TWI (Welding Institute) Cambridge
Research Board activities on welding
and fabrication, and is member of
EPSRC, and RSC solid state committees.
New
products developed by John’s team
have received a number of external
recognitions, including a UK Queen’s
Award for Enterprise, Innovation
2004, the inaugural ECN Dow Corning
Chemical Industry new product innovation
award 2004, and endorsements from
the UK Chartered Institute of Marketing
and TUV Germany.
He
has presented talks at a number of
scientific meetings, as well as on
the topic of Innovation.

Stephen Jenner
Director
Criminal Justice Information Technology
(CJIT)
Steve
heads the Portfolio Unit that was
established in 2005 to manage the
$3billion investment by the UK government
in modernising and joining up the
criminal justice system in England
and Wales. As such his responsibilities
include: making the case for continued
investment to HM Treasury; investment
appraisal; portfolio prioritisation;
and benefits realization. Since June
2006, he has also filled the position
of Director heading CJIT, following
the appointment of his predecessor,
John Suffolk, as the first UK Government
CIO. Steve joined CJIT in 2003 to
lead the team responsible for business
case development and benefits management
from the CJS Exchange – the IT that
joins up the individual case management
systems in the police, courts and
corrective services.
Steve
is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute
of Management Accountants and has
an MBA from Strathclyde Business
School. He is a member of the Senior
Civil Service and has over 16 years
experience in the Criminal Justice
System, primarily in the Prison Service
where he was Head of Internal Audit
(1994-1999) and Head of Financial
Accounting (1999-2001). In 2001-2002
Steve enjoyed a 12 month secondment
to Queensland, Australia where he
led on the implementation of cross-government
initiatives in the Department of
Corrective Services. He also holds
a Masters in Applied Criminology
from Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge
University.
Steve
regularly speaks at conferences on
the subjects of Portfolio Prioritisation
and Benefits Management – in the
last 12 months he has presented to
the OCED in Paris; to the European
Commission in Brussels and Vienna;
to the Queensland Government; and

Patterson is the Director of Global
Product Engineering for the Metalworking
Solutions and Services Group at
Kennametal Inc. Fred has worked
26 years at Kennametal in various
positions in Engineering and IT.
In
his current position, Fred has
global responsibility for both
new product development and maintenance
of Kennametal’s metalworking
standard products. Fred currently
works
at Kennametal’s Global Headquarters
in Latrobe, PA and previously
worked for 17 years at Kennametal’s
Metalworking Group in Raleigh,
NC and for 3
years as Manager, Global CAD/CAM & Engineering
Systems in Fuerth, Germany. Fred
has a Bachelor of Science degree
in Business Administration from
North Carolina Wesleyan College
and he has completed the executive
program, MBA Essentials from

of Fred’s career has been focused

Dr.
Zedalis has led Ansell's global Science
and Technology organization since
2002 with laboratories based in Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia; Pendleton, South
Carolina; Suratthani, Thailand; Redditch,
England and Juarez, Mexico. These
laboratories support new product
and process development for Ansell's
three (3) business divisions: Medical
Gloves, Consumer Products and Occupational
Gloves. Dr Zedalis began his career
with AlliedSignal / Honeywell, where
he held a number of senior positions
in the corporate Technology group,
